blog # 6

Hey, we are going to talking about smart phone applications. In the smart phone world applications are commonly known as ‘’apps”.  Apps can range in price from free to hundreds of dollars. First we are going to talk about book apps.  The first app is the Bible. This app allows you to read the bible and all its different versions. Whether it’s the King James Version or the New International version. The features of bible apps are, highlighted scriptures, bookmarking options, the ability to take notes, and a scroll option for easy and continuous reading. And, the greatest feature of this app is that you can read the bible anywhere and anytime you feel the need.
I Book is the top reading app for IPhones, IPods and Ipads. This app allows you to buy books whenever, and you can read them at any time. It also bookmarks the page for you. These books range from toddler books to text books. If you love to read on the go this a great app for you. Another type of reading app is Weird But True. This app is a did you know app. Questions like, did you know that girls have more taste buds than boys? This app gets its information from National Geographic website. The cost of this app is $ 1.99.
Another type of app are apps that contain other apps in then.  It’s kind of like getting 3 for the cost of one. An example would be AppZilla. This particular app offers 100 apps in one app for $1.00. Other apps in the application would be a level, motion alarm, clock; flip a coin, ruler and many many more. Another one of these apps would be AppBox Lite. This awesome app gives you a tip calculator, mirror, price comparison app and more.  This is a free app.
Entertainment Apps for the most part are apps that have no real use or function.  They are used strictly to make you laugh; give you the ability to do fun and silly things with pictures. These apps are also used to obtain information like the location of restaurants, bathrooms, and parking spaces and even your car. The names of these apps are Car Finder, Talking Tom, Tie die doodle, Fandango, and Spoon. Talking Tom is a cat that can be punched, tickled and poked. Tom can repeat anything you say in a hilarious voice. Tie Dye Doodle is an app that lets you to create your own tie dyed T-shirt. When you are done making your creation you can email it to friends and family. Fandango lets you have an inside view of movie times and dates that are playing in your local theater. There is also a print ticket option.  Car finder is that, it’s an app that locates your vehicle when you’ve forgotten where you parked.
Music apps are great and are my favorite.  These apps let you listen to music, by choosing your favorite station, artist or genre of music that you love.  You can listen to commercial free music for hours on in.  Some of the apps are Pandora, Sound Hound, IHeart Radio and Slacker to name a few.  Pandora is my favorite.  But when I don’t know the name of a song or all of the words, I go to Sound Hound.  All you have to do is hum or sing into the phone and the app will give you the name of the artist and the song.  How cool is that?  There is also an option that will let you download and purchase the song from ITunes. You can own this app for a cost of $ 6.99.
